I believe great dog training is about more than just teaching commands. It’s about building a relationship based on trust, clear communication, accountability at both ends of the leash and mutual understanding- and creating skills that actually work in everyday life.

My approach begins with teaching. I use positive reinforcement, food, play and relationship-building to teach dogs new skills and help them understand what we’re asking of them. From there, I blend motivation, structure and effective communication. I use a variety of training methods and tools, thoughtfully chosen for the individual dog and the goals of their family. When appropriate, this may include tools such as fixed leashes, flat collars, clickers, slip leads, harnesses, or non shocking remote collars. The specific tools chosen are layered after a foundation of positive training and used as part of a larger system of communication and teaching desired behaviours.

No single method or tool defines my training. My approach is built around education, communication, relationship and understanding the individual dog in front of you. My goal is to teach both ends of the leash to communicate clearly, build confidence and create reliable skills that hold up in the real world- not just the living room. Good training should give you and your dog more freedom, more adventures and a better life together.
