About Sara
Dogs have always been a passion of mine, but what truly drives me is helping people build better relationships with them. Over the past 11+ years, I’ve had the privilege of working with hundreds of dogs and their owners- from energetic puppies to complex behavioral cases- and no two journeys have even been the same.
I started training dogs I’ve owned at age 15 with books then later, videos. My career began at Unleashed Potential K9 where I completed my professional trainer certification through Duke Fergusons government recognized training academy. I went on to spend more than a decade as the head trainer, instructor and facility manager helping clients through private lessons, group classes and board and train programs. Along the way I’ve continued to study respected trainers such as Tyler Muto, Ivan Balabanov and Jay Jack, believing great trainers never stop learning.
While education has always been important to me, I believe there is no substitute for thousands of hours of real-world experience. One of the greatest opportunities in my career has been to be one of the few trainers on PEI working extensively with board and train dogs. Living with dogs in my home for weeks at a time provides a level of insight that is broader then what I’ve learned in classroom study.
When you share daily life with a dog you see the full picture- their routines, habits, stress, confidence, decision making and how they respond in countless real-world situations. That experience, combined with my studies, has given me a deeper understanding of canine behavior across a wide variety of breeds, personalities and behavioral challenges, allowing me to create practical training plans that work not only during lessons, but in everyday life.
Successful dog training requires being able to coach people. Teaching has been a part of my life since I was 16 years old, beginning with swimming instruction then continuing through to piano and several sports then finally dog training. I’ve studied coaching methods from some of the worlds leading high performance coaches such as Brendan Burchard. I understand that confidence, learning and communication look different for everyone, especially as someone like myself who navigates life with anxiety, AuDHD and sometimes depression.
At the end of the day, my goal isn’t to simply train dogs- it’s to give owners the knowledge, confidence, and support they need to enjoy a lifetime of freedom with their dog.
